PROJECT SUMMARY

Looking to set their facility ahead in an already competitive tourism landscape, the privately-owned All Seasons Holiday Park, located in scenic Mildura, Australia decided to install a family-friendly spray park. Outcomes of the project included that the new recreational space would need to be engaging for holiday-goers of all ages and offer a one-of-a-kind guest experience resulting in longer stays and increased bookings.

Within a tight timeline, prior to the start of Australia’s summer season, the owners were able to build an outstanding aquatic play space that is highly attractive to patrons and endorsed as one of the “most popular holiday parks in Mildura”.

CHALLENGE

“How long does it take to build a spray park” is a standard question asked at the beginning of every aquatic play project. However, for the spray park at All Seasons, the question posed was more of a request “how quickly can you build a spray park”.

In a little over four months, the project swiftly moved through each of the key phases of the project planning process — site planning, 2D and 3D project drawings, manufacturing, shipping and finally installation, which was managed hands-on by the owners themselves. Further impacting the project was the tight space allocated for the spray park. Existing facilities needed to be removed to make space for the desired equipment.

While the project appeared somewhat imposing, Waterplay was determined to provide products and services within the allocated timeframe to ensure the success of the project.

APPROACH

What began as a series of preliminary designs and concepts quickly turned into a project-in-progress. Due to the expertise and experience of our team at ParkEquip, hydraulic designs and the final park layout were created with precision and in a timely and efficient manner, keeping the project timeline on pace. The shipping of manufactured products became an exercise in superior logistics management, with only a single slide arriving after the project deadline.

SOLUTION

While other spray park companies were still replying to the owner’s preliminary question about the length of time to build a spray park, ParkEquip and Waterplay had already selected water features, designed a water management system, and finalized the park blueprint. The response time and familiarity with projects of this size were the motivators behind ParkEquip and Waterplay products becoming the chosen partner.

Thrilling water slides and a multitude of interactive activities; from Mega Soakers and Splash Blasters for the older kids to gentle Ground Sprays and raining Water Leaf’s for younger waterplayers provide safe, high-action fun for the whole family. With so much water fun to offer, guests, as well as local residents, can play and stay at the new spray park for hours on end!

Strategically located adjacent to the main highway, the spray park is also, highly visible to passing traffic enticing travelers to stop-in for a glimpse of what else the holiday park has to offer.

OUTCOME

The benefits of the spray park have far exceeded what was initially anticipated. Advanced bookings have increased considerably, the shoulder seasons have been extended and are now booked consistently, and the Christmas season is busier than ever. Community birthday parties and admission fees from local residents have brought unexpected and welcomed new revenue sources for the business.
